The Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra’s Benevolent Fund was set up in 1958 to provide financial support for musicians in cases of prolonged and/or serious illness or injury. From the start it has been successful in meeting these aims with the very generous support of those who have contributed. The main source of income is the annual Benevolent Fund Concert, now firmly established as one of the most popular events in the season. All the musicians give freely of their services, as do the many conductors and soloists who have featured in this concert over the years.
The Fund also embraces members when they retire, and by keeping in touch with them at Christmas it helps to maintain a link with old colleagues.
Donations to the Fund are made regularly by individuals, sometimes in the form of legacies, and by organisations such as Music Societies and Friends of the BSO. This invaluable support is greatly appreciated by members, past and present, of the BSO Benevolent Fund.
The musicians of the BSO thank you for your interest and support of their Benevolent Fund.
